Our Only mishap
Britney graciously offered to park the car in the long term parking lot with Alden. Shane, Derek and I took the luggage to check it in and get our tickets. Arrangements were made for me to have a wheelchair so that I would not have the half mile trek to the gate. It also would make security easier for me.
As we waited for the wheelchair, Shane got a phone call, "oh crap " were the next words from his mouth. Something bad had happened, I thought maybe it was someone from work but no... it was Alden. Britney did not realize that we had problems with the driver's side window going up and down. She had rolled the window down to get the parking pass. They could not get it to go back up. Shane gave them his best advise and told them to not spend too much time on it.
Blessing from heaven: There was a security person right there observing them with the struggle of the window. He could not help but he could call for help. He could also offer a black plastic garbage bag that could be placed over the door and window and then be shut and locked. This would have to do.
Our escort came and helped us through security. Because I have a metal implant they took us right to the scanner. It was quick and easy. They wanted me to raise both had up above my head but I can only get my right arm to about my shoulder. The person took me out of the scanner and just looked at my arm. I was then free to go. Our escort helped me put my jacket on and even helped me put my shoes on and tie them. Now that is service. On our way to the gate we talked to the Brit and Alden, They were on their way to security but the line was backed up to the baggage claim area. We should have realized that we could have waited for them and they could have been with us through security.
We got to the gate with about a 45 minute wait time. We were all stressed that the kids would not make it in time. By the time we started to board they were on their way but we could not see them. What a relief when they both walked onto the plane. Britney felt so bad and was very worried about the car. We calmed her fears and forgot about it all.
